The Arkansas Forestry Commission awarded a $12,000 grant to several groups to build four demonstration rain gardens in Fayetteville. The reason behind the demonstration gardens is to determine how northwest Arkansas soil conditions will affect the gardens. Partners
include the Illinois River Watershed Partnership, Washington County Master Gardeners, City of Fayetteville, UA-Extension-Washington County Office, among others. Four rain gardens have been built, locations are Leverett and Happy Hollow Elementary, as well as Gulley and Walker Parks.
